Redding Birth Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the midwifery community and expanding access to community-based maternity care in Shasta County and surrounding areas.
We believe that every family deserves access to compassionate care, every midwife deserves the resources and support needed to serve their community, and every aspiring midwife deserves the opportunity to complete their education and enter the profession.

Why We Exist
Families, midwives, and aspiring midwives across our region face barriers that extend beyond the availability of care itself. Limited access to specialized clinical resources, the financial demands of midwifery education, and the cost of care can all affect the options available to local families.

Expanding Clinical Resources
Access to appropriate clinical equipment and screening services is an important part of supporting out-of-hospital birth providers and the families in their care.
Redding Birth Center has secured grant funding for newborn hearing screening equipment and non-stress test equipment to help address gaps in local resources. These investments are intended to give midwives and their clients greater access to important clinical services in Shasta County and surrounding areas
Making Care More Accessible
Financial circumstances should not unnecessarily limit a family's ability to pursue midwifery care.
Through grant funding and community support, we aim to subsidize care for low-income families, helping reduce financial barriers and make community-based maternity care accessible to more people.
Investing in Future Midwives
The future of local maternity care depends on supporting the next generation of midwives. Completing clinical placements is an essential step toward graduation and licensure, but the associated financial burden can create significant barriers.
We work to secure grant funding that can help offset clinical placement costs for student midwives, supporting their educational journey and helping build the region's future midwifery workforce.
